POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION SUMMARY: The District Clerk shall prepare agendas and warn all meetings of the District and the Board of Supervisors (BOS), committees, and public hearings in accordance with Vermont Open Meeting law. The Clerk shall prepare and distribute reports required by the laws of the State of Vermont and resolutions or regulations of the Board of Supervisors (BOS). The clerk shall record all proceedings and votes of the District, including meetings of the District Board and Committees.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position requires the employee to:

  • Understand and comply with Vermont Open Meeting Law.
  • Physically post the meeting agendas and notice on the WSWMD office building door and in two other public places that are designated for posting.
  • Warn meeting agendas at least 48 hours in advance of regular meetings, 24 hours in advance of special meetings, and as soon as possible before any emergency meetings. Email meeting agendas and supporting material to the BOS, Executive Director, and other staff as required. Send by postal mail to Supervisors (as requested) who prefer this type of communication.
  • Prepare notices and agendas for all regular and special meetings and have them approved before sending.
  • Ensure that the notices and agendas are submitted for the District website. Also, supply them to any person upon request.
  • Record the meetings, and produce a summary of minutes. Minutes must report any decision made by a majority vote.
  • Perform other related work as directed.
